Celebrating World Mental Health Day, on Tuesday 10th October, Warrington Mayor Les Morgan and his wife Gwyn are joining the team and supporters of Warrington-based national charity, PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, on its annual HOPEWalk. Everyone of all ages, with or without dogs, is welcome to join.

In the UK suicide is the main cause of death of all young people under 35. PAPYRUS is calling on the nation to join its annual HOPEWalk to smash stigma and raise awareness that there is hope and help for young people who are struggling.

The Warrington walkers will meet at The Golden Gates at Warrington Town Hall at 5pm, setting off for a walk around the city for up to two hours, returning to the charity’s office in Milner Street. PAPYRUS hopes that many will join, for all or part of the way, to help raise awareness and demonstrate the importance of being open and encouraging positive discussion about young mental health.

This is the sixth year of PAPYRUS HOPEWalk, which has grown every year, to around 30 individual walks, through towns, country parks, along coastlines, up hills and down dales across the UK this coming week – all organised by supporters and fundraisers.

Please join in to make Warrington HOPEWalk one to remember. There is no need to register. Balloons and bunting will be provided and if you wish to look proud in purple, you may purchase a t-shirt on the night.
