To My Fellow...

Suicide can affect anyone at any time but you are not alone.
In 2022 we launched To My Fellow… Suicide can affect anyone at any time, with each individual story being different. We need to raise awareness of this to highlight that suicide is everyone’s business and support is available.
Earlier this year we launched To My Fellow… Mums, Dads, Counsellors, Sisters, Brothers, Families, Friends, Artists, Faith Leaders, and Migrants.
We have now added seven more videos to this campaign, To My Fellow…Students, Neurodivergent People, Young Muslims, Farming Community, LGBTQIA+ Community, Differently Abled, and Healthcare Professionals*, with the hopes of adding more as and when we make more connections.
* all titles have been created in collaboration with those involved, and reflect the way in which they would like to be portrayed in the series.
About the campaign
To My Fellow… is the first video series that PAPYRUS has created which explores the stories of individuals and how suicide has affected them.
PAPYRUS knows it is important to give people affected by suicide a platform to share their experiences around suicide with a focus on a hopeful message they would say to their fellows, in a similar situation. Each video contains a personal story of how suicide has affected the individual and a message of hope, with the aim to help equip more people with the knowledge to support themselves and other people when dealing with suicide.

“It was an honour to work with a range of incredible people on this campaign and I felt privileged to be able to listen to their stories, helping them to spread hope to their fellows. Suicide is a difficult subject to talk about so I cannot begin to imagine how hard it may have been for some of the people I met to talk about their experiences, but I am so grateful to all of them for helping us to smash the stigma and start opening up conversations around suicide.
“Experiencing suicide can become isolating due to the stigma still attached to the subject. The aim of the videos is to spread awareness that anyone can be affected by suicide, each in a different way, but there are things we can do to help support ourselves and others – you are not alone. Although everyone’s story is different, I hope anyone who is currently being affected by suicide can take something away from these videos and reach out for support. Thank you so much to everyone who got involved and shared their tips, thoughts and messages.”
– Rachel Martin (To My Fellow… Producer Director, Marketing and Communications Officer at PAPYRUS)
