Incredible Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle Challenge raises £17,000!

30th April 2015

Five university friends have completed a challenging cycle in aid of PAPYRUS.

Henry Barnes, Charlie Paton, John Sheppard, William Mottram and Ollie Speck cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats in an amazing 8 days in memory of their friend Rob Chapman.

Despite some serious injuries along the way, their enthusiasm never faltered and all 5 of the Ride4Rob team completed the cycle in 8 days. Their outstanding fundraising total of over £17,000 is enough to keep PAPYRUS' helpline, HOPELineUK open for over 2 months, providing a vital advice service for young people or those who may be worried about a young person they know.

But what did the team think about the cycle? Henry Barnes said

It was hard work, but well worth it! In the end it brought us all closer together

And on their JustGiving page, the team said

If our challenge; through the help of PAPYRUS, could prevent this from happening to another set of friends and a family, then we want to raise as much money to enable this charity to continue their good work.

Our incredible fundraisers up and down the UK help us keep our services running; offering support and advice to young people, and those who may be worried about a young person 365 days a year.

Be part of PAPYRUS

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people - male and female - under 35 in the UK. Many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling.

We are the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. We draw from the experience of many who have been touched personally by young suicide across the UK and speak on their behalf in our campaigns and in our work. We need more people who share our aims to join us to strengthen our voice - together we can save young lives.
