PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is here to support any young person who might be experiencing thoughts of suicide, regardless of sexual orientation and/ or gender identity. As a charity, we stand with the LGBTQIA+ community, and our suicide prevention helpline, HOPELINEUK, is here for everyone.
Sadly sometimes people who are LGBTQIA+ experience bullying or abuse from others due to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Many young people contact our service for support after they have experienced struggles related to this that have contributed to thoughts of suicide. However, these young people also tell us about the importance of a supportive network of friends and family during their struggles and beyond these.
If you’re struggling with your sexuality, gender, or identity, and this has led to thoughts of suicide you can contact HOPELINEUK for advice on staying safe and for support with what you are going through. If you are concerned about someone else who you suspect may be having thoughts of suicide, you can also contact HOPELINEUK for advice on how to support them.
We also have a downloadable resource on sexual orientation and gender identity, here.
HOPELINEUK is here for you seven days per week, 365 days of the year.
