HOPEWalk is back for 2017!

2017 marks 20 years since PAPYRUS was founded and we’re proud of how far we’ve come in this time. The ongoing support of our community fundraisers over the years enables us to save young lives and #talkthroughthetaboo of young suicide.

This year, HOPEWalk will take place between 7 – 15 October. We want you to organise a walk in your local community to start a conversation about suicide and raise vital funds to help us deliver our life-saving services up and down the UK. In taking part, you will be giving hope to young people and raising awareness in your community that there is help available.

Registration is just £7.50, and we’ll provide you with a pack which includes a t-shirt, balloons, wristbands and posters to help you advertise your walk, an information pack to help you make the most of your fundraising, as well guidance about the walk itself. The PAPYRUS team is also on hand for any questions you may have about your walk or fundraising.

It’s super easy to organise your HOPEWalk and you can make it your own in a variety of ways! Your group might want to get together before the walk for tea and cake, or gather in the local pub afterwards.  We look forward to welcoming you to the PAPYRUS family and working alongside you to prevent young suicide.

Will you be a #HOPEWalkHero and help PAPYRUS continue to save lives for the next 20 years? If you’re interested in taking part, fill in the registration form and send it to fundraising@papyrus-uk.org.

We look forward to having you on board!

What past HOPEWalk heroes have to say:

There were some showers right at the end, but for the most part it was a beautiful day. We had quite a bit of interest from people that saw us walking/at stops in between the walk. All in all, it felt like a really successful day.

Ashley, HOPEWalk 2016 Host

The support you gave me in getting this event off the ground with less than two weeks notice was great. Thank you!

Nina, HOPEWalk 2016 Host

HOPEWALK was a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness of PAPYRUS and the services they offer within my community, I thought it was really important to target busy areas and our cute dogs raised lots of interest from the public who were keen to talk about saving young lives!

Kelly, Wigan HOPEWalk 2016 Host

The walk was such a success with everyone in good spirits to remember Ben on his birthday. I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and those who couldn't make it but still donated to the charity Papyrus. So far we have raised £855 this year and over £3,000 last year.

Emma, Ilkley HOPEWalk 2015 Host

We had thirty walkers and raised over £1,850. It was great to have new faces too this time. En route people asked us about the charity. Everyone enjoyed it - talking, laughing, tweeting and taking pictures. All good for our community and the exercise helped our mental health too - here's to next year!

Be part of PAPYRUS

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people - male and female - under 35 in the UK. Many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling.

We are the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. We draw from the experience of many who have been touched personally by young suicide across the UK and speak on their behalf in our campaigns and in our work. We need more people who share our aims to join us to strengthen our voice - together we can save young lives.
