PAPYRUS applauds DUP MP William McCrea for highlighting the dangers of suicide websites in bringing forward his Suicide (Prevention) Bill, as reported by the Press Association on 24th April.

PAPYRUS campaigns for greater awareness of the dangers of online promotion of suicide and has consistently lobbied the government and the internet industry to implement effective controls in this area.

The charity is aware of more than fifty young suicides where the internet is believed to have played a significant part. This could be only the tip of an iceberg, with further deaths that have not been reported.
