Anti Bullying Week 2011
STOP AND THINK - Words Can Hurt.

PAPYRUS knows that cyberbullying is a very serious social phenomenon. Bullying is awful for anyone who has to endure it. It is often, by its nature, hidden from the view of others.
PAPYRUS far too freqently hears about terrible cases of hurt being caused by name-calling, undermining, verbal abuse, unfair treatment, gang attacks and many other stories of personal attack on individuals. You may have read in the press of teen suicides following such bullying.
Online bullying or cyberbullying can and does cause people to want to "end it all."
Suicide can sometimes be the result of a person feeling they want to "end the pain." When that pain comes from bullying, suicide is preventable.
If bullying is part of your personal experience, please find someone to talk to about it. PAPYRUS can support you and point you in the direction of people who can help you in your community.
HOPELineUK fields calls daily which include instances of bullying.
If you use social media, please do this responsibly. Remember, even a few words can hurt - indeed lead to someone wanting to die by suicide. Don't let that happen.
Actionwork is worth a look if you are interested in doing something about creative activities to stop bullying. Also, you may want to check out BeatBullyinguk for more details on cyber mentoring and other practicial solutions.
