PAPYRUS Welcomes Action Plan
on Suicide Prevention for Wales

PAPYRUS the national charity for prevention of young suicide welcomes the new National Action Plan to Reduce Suicide and Self-Harm in Wales, announced today.
“The Welsh Assembly Government is to be congratulated on this initiative and for recognising the need to bring Wales in line with England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, all of whom have strategies in place,” commented Anne Parry, chair of PAPYRUS. “Suicide is a major cause of death in young people and the young people of Wales are no exception.
“The action plan demonstrates the commitment by the Welsh Assembly to address this issue and PAPYRUS looks forward to playing a part in its implementation and fully supports its objectives.”
